In this episode we explore the remarkable landscape of Ranscombe Bottom before travelling along the Roman road through Bronze Age, Iron Age and Roman history. We discuss the grizzly past of Morgan’s Hill and Furze Knoll (some of it distressingly recent) before completing the loop via St Mary’s Church at Calstone Wellington and the graffiti carved into its stone walls over hundreds of years.
We also open a can of worms by discussing public rights of way, and in particular blocked rights of way, of which there were several on this walk.

The website contains detailed show notes with lots of additional information and links to some of the things we discuss in the podcast including artists Eric Ravilious and Anna Dillon and the unlikely sounding Wiltshire Medieval Graffiti Survey!
